Old Ranch Country Club Wedding Guide

What We Love About the Old Ranch Country Club

At 6,000 square feet, the club’s indoor event space is perfect for an indoor wedding and reception or can be partitioned off to accommodate your needs. A favorite area of many brides and her guests is the bridal courtyard, a beautiful location for an outdoor ceremony. Glide down the gorgeous staircase and onto an elegant stone walkway and make your way down the aisle to say “I do” with the panoramic view of the lake and beautifully manicured lawns before you. Share your first kiss as husband and wife under the gorgeous Romanesque, hand-crafted, wrought-iron pergola. If you’re looking for a venue where the classic meets the modern with endless inspiration, then the Old Ranch Country Club is the place for you.

Weddings at Old Ranch Country Club

In quaint Seal Beach, the Old Ranch Country Club offers all the elements of the wedding of your dreams: Designated bride’s and groom’s dressing areas, so you can relax, be pampered, and make memories together with your wedding party as you await the moment you’ll tie the knot. An exquisite outdoor ceremony area, where you can say your vows among the wonders of Southern California’s natural beauty. Many picturesque locations along the 128-acre golf course, where you can take photographs and memorialize this day. And an elegant ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows in the rustic timber-and-stone clubhouse, where you can celebrate your wedding together with your loved ones.

The grand wrought-iron pergola in view of the grandeur of the golf course is a heavenly spot that requires no extra adornment. Many brides and grooms choose to just add pillars topped with bouquets along the aisle or cascading flowers flowing out of the base of the pergola–to add their own personal touch to their ceremony site.

What we love about shooting
at Old Ranch Country Club.

💍
Lakeside Ceremony with Natural Drama
The bridal courtyard's panoramic lake views create a naturally stunning backdrop that frames your couple beautifully without competing for attention. The combination of manicured lawns, water reflection, and open sky gives us multiple layers of depth—perfect for capturing intimate moments with gorgeous environmental context.
🏛️
Romanesque Architecture for Timeless Shots
That hand-crafted wrought iron gazebo is a photographer's dream—the ornate metalwork creates beautiful natural framing and catches light in ways that add elegance to every frame. It's an architectural anchor that instantly elevates couple portraits and first-kiss photos with European sophistication.
🪜
Dramatic Stone Staircase Entry
The elegant stone walkway and staircase descent is a built-in moment we use for some of our favorite bride-walking-down-the-aisle shots. The architectural lines, combined with natural elevation change, create dynamic composition and allow us to capture emotional reactions from both the groom and guests simultaneously.
Common Questions

What couples typically ask.

What's the ideal timeline for capturing the best light at Old Ranch?
We recommend scheduling your ceremony for late afternoon (3–4 PM) to catch golden hour on the lake and lawns during couple portraits. This timing also means your reception begins as the sun sets, allowing us to transition from natural light photography into beautifully lit indoor moments. If a morning ceremony works better for your schedule, the courtyard has lovely diffused light—we just avoid harsh midday sun on the stone walkway.
Where are the most photogenic spots on the property?
Beyond the obvious bridal courtyard and gazebo, the stone staircase descent is gold for dramatic entrance shots, and the manicured lawn areas offer beautiful negative space for couple portraits with the lake in soft focus behind. The wrought iron gazebo framing the lake is also stunning for getting-ready-day detail shots and post-ceremony couple moments. Don't overlook the elegant walkways and architectural corners of the indoor space—they create beautiful pockets of light for receptions.
How do you handle the transition between outdoor ceremony and indoor reception?
We build extra time into the timeline for couple portraits on the lawn and in the courtyard, so guests move inside while we capture natural light moments. The partitionable indoor space means we can coordinate lighting with the venue team to ensure seamless visual continuity. We also scout the exact flow beforehand so we're positioned perfectly for that crucial transition moment—typically the most candid and joyful of the day.
What makes Old Ranch different photographically from other Southern California country clubs?
The hand-crafted Romanesque gazebo and panoramic lake setting give it authentic European elegance that many local venues lack. The thoughtful layout—with the courtyard ceremony space physically separated from reception areas—allows for true moment-to-moment variety in our shot list. Plus, the combination of refined architecture and natural landscape means we rarely need to work around modern or sterile backdrops.
Is there adequate space for our photographer and videographer to work together without getting in each other's way?
Absolutely—the courtyard, staircase, and lawn areas are spacious enough for both teams to position strategically without compromise. The 6,000-square-foot indoor space also offers multiple angles and depth for reception coverage. We typically coordinate with your videographer beforehand to map out key moments, ensuring we both capture the best perspectives of the ceremony and first kiss.
