The Winery’s Rich History

An official California Historic Landmark, the winery was founded in 1901 by French immigrant Paul Masson, also known as “The Champagne King of California.” He quickly began growing the finest grapes and producing world-renowned sparkling wines. When winemaking ceased in the 1950s, The Mountain Winery became a gathering spot for musical concerts. Hosting a Mountain Winery Wedding means being among the ghosts of all the great talent that has performed here, from Ella Fitzgerald to Stevie Wonder to The Beach Boys.

The Mountain Winery is quite flexible about the number of guests you can accommodate at your wedding–anywhere from a minimum of 50 up to 2500 guests. Wedding parties often choose to have their ceremony on the Vista Deck. With flagstones beneath their feet, guests will watch you tie the knot before a lovely canopy of trees bordering the expanse of Silicon Valley.

The Redwood Deck is a wonderful space for cocktails or nibbles. It overlooks the famed concert bowl and the grand historic chateau built by Paul Masson. A reception on the Chateau Deck allows for clear, unfiltered views of the grandeur of Santa Clara Valley below.
