The Winery’s Rich History
An official California Historic Landmark, the winery was founded in 1901 by French immigrant Paul Masson, also known as “The Champagne King of California.” He quickly began growing the finest grapes and producing world-renowned sparkling wines. When winemaking ceased in the 1950s, The Mountain Winery became a gathering spot for musical concerts. Hosting a Mountain Winery Wedding means being among the ghosts of all the great talent that has performed here, from Ella Fitzgerald to Stevie Wonder to The Beach Boys.
Today The Mountain Winery has resumed winemaking, but continues to draw musicians from a wide variety of genres for its concert series throughout the year.
