About Alexandria Ballrooms

A City of Los Angeles Historical Cultural Monument, the Alexandria Ballrooms have been an LA fixture since 1906, filled with luxurious historic details like delicately painted wood paneling, soaring ceilings, and ornate chandeliers. The ballrooms have had an impressive guest list over the years, playing host to many international dignitaries, Hollywood celebrities, and notable socialites. Over the years, this venue has welcomed Winston Churchill, King Edward VIII, William Howard Taft, Theodore Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, Natalie Portman, Beyonce, Pharrell, Nick Jonas, and Nicki Minaj. Charlie Chaplain was married in these very ballrooms. And one of Alexandria’s three ballrooms may be the perfect spot for you to tie the knot and celebrate your marriage.

Alexandria Ballrooms Wedding Ceremony

Any of the three ballrooms would be an elegant space to say your vows. The Palm Court Ballroom and Cocktail Lounge can accommodate 500 standing guests or 260 seated, reception-style. This all-white room exudes Old Hollywood luxury, with its soaring arched ceilings, original chandeliers, and Tiffany skylights.

The King Edward Ballroom, pictured below, features hand-painted gold-leaf ceilings, crystal chandeliers, an ornately carved wooden fireplace, and natural sunlight streaming through skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows. Guests can gaze on the festivities below from the balcony terrace in this room that accommodates 400 standing guests or 200 reception-style.

Or if you want a contemporary space to put your own signature on, the Mezz may be just the right place for you. An open, industrial space with exposed brick walls, candle-light iron beams, and a grand marble staircase, the Mezz is perched on the top level of Alexandria Ballrooms with iron-clad skylights and walls of windows that provide wondrous views of Los Angeles. The largest of the three ballrooms, this 14,000 square-foot room can hold 800 cocktail-style or 500 seated for a dinner reception.

One of the perks of this venue is that you are renting the space only to create the wedding of your dreams on a beautiful palate. Decor, flowers, catering, room layout–all of that is your choice. You can craft a stately, traditional blue-and-white reception like the one in the Palm Court pictured below. Or also in the Palm Court, you can add romantic, sumptuous touches like red roses and delicate rose gold vases and candle holders. You can decorate the Mezz with funky, upbeat decor and casual dining or contemporary, minimalist decor coupled with fine dining. The sky’s the limit at Alexandria Ballrooms.
